Inside Forest Regeneration

You’ve come to the right forest.

You’ve come to the right forest.

Press play to hear Amy Rogers, Senior Forests Advisor at Sacred Forests, explain how we use Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR) - a nature-led approach that mimics healthy forest mechanics - to accelerate natural recovery.

In the Sierra Nevada of northern Colombia, we’re working side by side with Indigenous Arhuaco People to help ancestral forests recover.

How it works:

By dispersing native seeds across selected sites, we use permanent monitoring plots to track germination and growth across six distinct vegetation stages. Where land has been damaged or deforested, we provide funding and support to enable nature to regenerate, while respecting culture and the environment. Through this method, we’re actively restoring 98 hectares of degraded land.

Did you know?
The entire community gathered to do concentrated spiritual work on the giant pile of seeds that was about to be broadcast to degraded areas, to guarantee their success.
